Tea,particularly milk tea is an all time favourite beverage for Indians. The widespread popularity of tea as a recreational drink began in the 1920s. Today India is the second largest tea producers in the world and over 70% of its tea is consumed in India itself. There is this tea culture in India and I’m not exaggerating when I say that you will find tea everywhere in India. You go to any household in any part of India and a hot cup of tea will soon be served to you; step outside and you will find streets dotted with tea stalls.
Samosa is one of the many Indian snacks that go really well with tea. Samosa is a fried pastry with savory fillings such as potatoes and peas. It blends perfectly with tea and is considered the ideal snack for a rainny afternon. Infact when I see the sky gearing up for rain, I step out, buy samosas(because they are sold at every nook) and set the kettle on boil for a hot cup of tea. And if it’s a weekend, I’d probably expect company to chat the afternoon away. Other times, I escape the rain as I step into tea shops or stalls and order for a hot cup of tea and samosa as I wait for the downpour to come to a halt. As for the affordability, they are absolutely pocket friendly – 20 rupees for a cup of tea and a samosa!
